Corrective Makeup

Sometimes you have to play a background character. As such, you don't want to draw attention away from the people onstage. This means you must do "corrective makeup" to keep from standing out. What is corrective makeup? It's the use of makeup to create as neutral of a face as possible. Any part of your face that is not symmetrical should be addressed for this makeup. I am lucky enough to have a rather symmetrical face, and had less  work to do. I focused on making my nose thinner, my cheeks less puffy, and filling in my eyebrows a bit (though I should have gone a bit darker).
